How to prepare your car for the rains | tips from DEIZ

Rainy weather can be a real challenge for your car, so it’s important to prepare it in advance.

Here are some useful tips that will help you to do it:

1. Check the windshield wipers. Make sure they’re clean and the rubber lining isn’t worn, as they play a key role in providing good visibility in rainy weather. Replace them if they don’t clean the glass properly or leave streaks.

2. Fill the windshield washer reservoir with a special water repellent that allows droplets to roll off the glass rather than linger on the surface. This will ensure that you can see clearly.

3. Check the condition and pressure of the tires. Make sure they are properly inflated and the tread height is at least 4 mm to ensure good wet traction and reduce the risk of aquaplaning.

4. Inspect the bodywork for scratches and repair them to prevent corrosion. And also apply a special coating to protect the car from damage, we recommend wax or ceramic.

5. Check the status of the headlights and lights. Ensure that the lights are functioning properly so that you can be seen by other road users and have good visibility yourself when it rains.

6. Put moisture-proof mats in the passenger compartment. This will help keep it clean and dry during rains. Also be sure to have good ventilation and heating in the cabin to avoid moisture, musty odors, and fogging of the windows. Make sure the rubber seals on the glass and doors fit snugly and do not let water in.

7. Make sure the brakes are working efficiently, the brake pads are not worn, and the ABS is functioning properly to ensure safety during wet braking.

8. Check the condition of the battery and other internal components for moisture resistance. Rainy weather can cause short circuits and serious breakdowns, so make sure this indicator is up to par.

By following these simple tips, you can prepare your vehicle for inclement weather and ensure safe travel. During the rain season, check the forecast regularly and choose covered parking spaces.
